Four Victims Wounded at Howe Park Sacramento - Unauthorized Gathering Turns Violent
Late Saturday evening, an unapproved gathering of multiple hundreds of attendees at Howe Community Park in Sacramento County's Arden-Arcade neighborhood turned violent when upwards of 20 gunshots were fired as Sacramento County Sheriff's Office deputies were attempting to dispersing the crowd.
What Happened
Around 6:30 in the evening, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office received reports reporting people potentially carrying concealed firearms at Howe Park. A second report described a potential fight and individuals fleeing the scene.
A sheriff's helicopter was deployed and scanned the park but did not locate the reported fight.
Even so, a large crowd had assembled at the location for what deputies referred to as an unlawful gathering. Law enforcement personnel formed a perimeter around the park, turned on their emergency lights, and spent approximately 15 minutes directing the crowd to leave over their vehicle speakers.
While deputies were dispersing the crowd, an estimated 20 to 25 rounds echoed through the area — sending the crowd scattering in panic.
The Victims
Four gunshot victims — a female and three male victims, all young check here adults in more info their 20s — were rushed to local hospitals. Two were classified with immediate injuries, Howe Park Sacramento gunfire one with moderate injuries, and one victim sustained minor injuries. All four victims were stable. The Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District assisted with on-scene medical triage at the location.
Scene Details
The shooting was centered on the Cottage Way corridor side of the park close to the Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Avenue. The nearby Home Depot was temporarily locked down. Additional spent casings were recovered from Cottage Way, with bullet holes found in the metal fence bordering check here the Home Depot — pointing to a shooter firing south from Cottage Way toward the Home Depot. Investigators and crime scene technicians processed evidence at the scene well into the evening.
Suspect Information
Via scanner radio traffic, it was confirmed that a suspect vehicle — a Kia click here automobile — was pulled over in Solano County with four individuals detained. Law enforcement units were heading to Solano County to pick up the suspects and take them back to Sacramento County for investigation. Footage confirmed two shooters were involved.
